"Fabulous Auckland experience! For our first time in Auckland, we spent the day with the lovely and personable Bill Hird. We run a food and wine touring business in the United States so we big believers that the best way to know a new city is through its food and wine scene. Bill put together an outstanding full day for us that included some driving through neighborhoods in Auckland and a great walking tour of restaurants on the Viaduct. We visited a total of five restaurants, sampling a variety of New Zealand foods and wines at each one. What made this tour so outstanding for us ( and we can be jaded as we do this for a living ) was Bills vast knowledge. As a fifth generation Kiwi he certainly made Auckland and New Zealand history come alive for us but in addition he is a noted expert on, and a judge of, New Zealand wines so each dish we tried was beautifully paired with a compatible wine. His choice of restaurants was so good that we brought a group of friends back to a couple of them again the next day. The Downtown Degustation Long-Lunch
This is a walking-only tour in Auckland’s downtown precinct’s. Visit top restaurant’s, sampling signature dishes with premium wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverage pairings.
Along the way you’ll also learn the story of New Zealand wine and food, and the rich history of the precinct’s visited.
Hosted by Bill Hird, New Zealand wine and food expert.
Duration: approx. 4 hours

The Downtown Degustation Long-Lunch and the Neighbourhoods
All of the the fabulous ‘The Downtown Degustation Long Lunch’ tour, plus begin the day with a driving tour through some of Auckland’s eclectic neighbourhoods…stop for coffee, galleries, boutique shopping…anything is possible.
